Founder
Obidi Ume is a multi-talented and widely experienced professional.
He did his National Youth Service with Kwara State Ministry of Justice in 1983, he was Lecturer in the Faculty of Law, University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) and later Imo State University (now Abia State University).
Obidi started banking in the then Hallmark Bank Limited (now Ecobank Nigeria Plc) in 1990 as a Company Secretary/Senior Manager, Legal & Personnel and rose rapidly to the position of Deputy General Manager in 1996. He later served as the Chief Executive/Deputy General Manager of Hallmark Bank Trading Company Ltd (a subsidiary of Hallmark Bank Plc).
He also held Senior and Executive Management positions in ACB International Bank Plc, IMB International Bank Plc and Finbank Nigeria Plc. He joined Afribank Nigeria Plc (now Skye Bank Plc) in 2007 as General Manager, Public Sector Division and in 2009, headed the Retail Banking Division supervising 220 branches/business units nationwide.
After disengaging from banking, he returned fully to law practice as Founder, Bonitas Legal Practitioners.
In addition to his very extensive banking experience, Obidi has served the Federal Republic of Nigeria as:
- Member, FCT Land Use Allocation Committee, Abuja (2000-2004).
- Committee on Financial Management of Aviation Parastatals (2000).
Obidi holds Bachelor of Laws Degree, (LL.B) with Second Class Upper Honours graduating as winner of Justice Madarikan Prize being the “Student with the Best All-round Performance in the Final LL.B Degree Examination” of University of Ife in 1982. He was also the Winner of Irving & Bonnar Scholarship Prize as the “Best Student in LL.B Part III examinations” of University of Ife in 1981.
In 1985, Obidi earned Master of Laws (LL.M) Degree of University of Ife, Ile-Ife and followed it with a Master of Business Administration Degree (MBA) in Banking and Finance (1997) from Enugu State University of Technology. He has participated in several executive training programmes by leading universities including Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois, USA. He belongs to many professional associations and clubs.
